Khalid Almolhem Appointed New SV Director General
Mr. Almolhem said that he was greatly honored by the Royal confidence in him. He described SV as the largest airlines in the Middle East and one of the largest in the world.
The new DG brings to the job impressive personal credentials in both academic studies and work experience. Mr. Almolhem was born in Al-Ahsa in 1957 and received his primary education there. He graduated from Evansville University, in the state of Indiana, in the United States with a B.Sc. in Engineering Management and Electrical Engineering in 1981. He received several training courses at different places including one in Business Administration at Harvard University in 1995 and another in Accountancy and Financial Supervision at the Saudi Industrial Development Fund in 1984.
Mr. Almolhem
held the post of President of Saudi Telecom from June 2001 till
June 2006. Earlier, he held key posts in different quarters
including the post of Director General of Al-MaraÕie Dairy
Company (1997-1998), Director of the Maintenance Department of
the Airbase at Dhahran International Airport (February 1982 Ð
February 1983) and Regional Director General of Saudi British
Bank (October 1991- May 1995). On top of these posts is his
appointment as the Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines by
a Royal Decree dated 10/05/1427 H (06/06/2006) )

SV Signs Cooperation Agreement With South African Airlines

Dr. Omar A. Jiffry, VP Marketing Planning signed the agreement on behalf of Saudi Arabian Airlines while Mrs. Nomfaaneio Magwentshu, GM Sales Development, signed for South African Airlines. The two airlines also signed a code sharing agreement on the Jeddah-Johannesburg-Jeddah sector thus putting the MOU into effect. The code sharing agreement becomes effective on the 1st of July and earmarks 32 seats to SV on South African Airlines flights.
The signing ceremony held at SV headquarters was attended by
senior officials of both the airlines.

SV Saudi Technical Staff Gets A Boost
Mr. Ali Millat, VP Technical Services, said that providing top notch training to the AirlineÕs technical manpower is the key to maintaining a state-of-the-art fleet such as Saudi Arabian AirlinesÕ to international standards. SV has always paid special attention to develop the skills of its technical staff through continuous training. The maintenance training institute affiliated to the Prince Sultan Aviation Academy, was established with this objective in view, Mr. Millat said. During the first quarter of this year 3714 trainees attended 416 specialized training courses.
The AirlineÕs technical staff provided maintenance services to
55 Arab and international airlines besides maintaining its own
large fleet including overhauling engines, calibrating precision
instruments and refurbishing equipment and various aircraft
parts.

SV Participates In Freight Exhibition In China
SVÕs pavilion, with its eye-catching design, was the center of attention at the exhibition. The AirlineÕs delegation included Mr. Saud Arab, VP Cargo & Air Mail Sales & Services, Mr. Muhammad Hassan Alfi, VP designate Cargo Marketing Programs, and Mr. Nayef AlÐAssaf. The delegation held meetings with leading airlines and airport authorities to promote closer cooperation in freight transport.
Several offers were received during the meetings. The French offered facilities and services to SV to establish a cargo hub at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. Hong Kong airport authorities expressed their willingness to support an increase in the number of SV cargo flights to and from Hong Kong. Atlas Air made a presentation on its capabilities and offered its cooperation in promoting commercial ties. Express Net and JNE also showed their desire to cooperate.
The Saudi delegation and the SV agent in China also held meetings with a number of Chinese freight agencies. These meetings were extremely fruitful. An Indian agency also offered a large share of its cargo business because of the AirlineÕs strong presence in India.
SVÕs participation in the exhibition event concluded with a
dinner reception it hosted in honor of its business associates
and clients in China.

SV Increases Flights To UAE
According to Mr. Abdulkareem AlÐRubaiÕan, SV Manager for UAE, there are 74 weekly flights between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE with a seating capacity of 15,984. A total of 14,345 passengers are expected to be carried onboard 60 flights that will operate between the Kingdom and Dubai every week while the rest of the 14 flights will operate between the Kingdom, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Dubai flights will be as follows:
The frequency of flights to Abu Dhabi using MD90s has gone up to 10. The Abu Dhabi service will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with a total seating capacity of 4480.
SV will be operating two MD90 flights every week (Thursday and
Sunday) on the Sharjah-Madina-Sharjah route and two flights on
the Abu Dhabi-Madinah-Abu Dhabi sector, again on Thursdays and
Sundays. In order to cater to the AirlineÕs customers coming to
perform Umrah (lesser pilgrimage,) SV is operating 34 extra
flights between the Kingdom and Dubai as part of its scheduled
service.
