George Simon, a famous Hollywood stand-up comedian with a successful career, who lives in solitary having no friends and away from his family, comes to learn how a fatal blood illness threatens his life. With this traditional old-fashioned cinematic plot, Funny People, an American recent movie, realized substantial success since it first opened in theaters on July 31st, 2009.

George goes into a depression and starts to reflect back on his life. He finds solace by going back to the clubs at which he used to perform. In one of these clubs, he meets Ira Wright, a struggling comedian who is trying to find the right career path. Obviously Ira is Simon’s Paradox. Yet, how would the latter’s new outlook upon life lead the events and develop the comic- dramatic plot and the two lead characters’ newly established relation? The answer is revealed throughout the film, which also ends in a traditional way any viewer may expect.
